Benjamin K. Tiefert > Bicycling
Ben's Bicycling Page
I'm always looking for the opportunity to spend more time on my bicycle. There are few things as rewarding as a good workout, and bicycling is the exercise of
choice for me. Someday I hope to do some serious long distance trips, but while employed I'm forced to keep me excursions short. My longest day in the seat
has entailed over 125 miles of rolling country hills here in the Miami Valley. When I don't have time for a long trip, I enjoy tooling around on the
excellent Ohio bike trails.
My Uncles Tom and Steve are responsible for getting me started on "real" road cycling. These guys have ridden all over creation, including a long haul all
the way to Washington D.C. On the other side of the family my Aunt Pam and Uncle Jim bicycle a few hundred miles across Iowa every year in what
invariably becomes sweltering heat. I hope to one day go on similar journeys and perhaps even pedal cross the continent by bicycle.
I often receive questions about my blue and white road bike. It is a model year 1999 Marin Verona. This bike was the right
blend of light weight materials, a 3 gear crank (for granny-gearing out of the Ohio River valley), quality workmanship, and comfortable stance. Here are some additional specs:
