Journal

June 15, 2004 - After work today I attended a premium Sake tasting at the Fairfield Wine store.  Representatives from a Sake distributer held and impromptu seminar on the Sake-making process which was very interesting.  I learned that Sake is brewed rather than fermented (much like beer), but served like wine.  The premium sakes are apparantly not serves hot, and they have a much softer, more complex taste than the el' cheapo sake. I took home a bottle to enjoy on my own time. Yummm... My only remaining question is: why are all of my hobbies and interests so darn expensive!?

Wine

I got started with wine tasting in the winter of '03 / '04 by signing up for a Wines of the World class, taught by Dave Dennis, the owner of the Fairfield Wine store. Dennis did an extraordinary job at demonstrating how to taste wine, and openned my eyes to the amazing diversity of flavors that can be derived from grapes, yeast, and time.
